About Us

When a longtime local pumpkin patch closed its gates this past winter, we knew our community would feel that loss. With grateful hearts and God's guidance, we're growing something special right here at Little Pistol Farms.

This fall, we invite you to make new memories with us at our 29 acre farm complete with real U-pick pumpkin fields, homegrown produce, and family-friendly fun. We hope to be your new fall tradition in the Kalamazoo and Mattawan area, and we can't wait to welcome you to the farm.

Our Mission

Serving Southwest Michigan Families with Fresh Produce & Fall Fun

At Little Pistol Farms, our mission is to serve families in Kalamazoo, Mattawan, Oshtemo, and the surrounding Southwest Michigan communities with fresh, locally grown produce - and to create a joyful, faith-filled space where families can make lasting memories together.

We're proud to offer a classic U-pick pumpkin patch experience in Kalamazoo County, with 29 acres full of colorful, unique pumpkin varieties planned for this fall. Whether you're hunting for that perfect carving pumpkin, taking fall family photos, or just soaking in the crisp autumn air, we want Little Pistol Farms to become a beloved family tradition. In addition to pumpkins, we also grow tomatoes, squash, zucchini, watermelon, and more - all fresh from the field and grown right here on the Kalamazoo-Van Buren County line.

Practicing Sustainable, Faith-Led Farming in Kalamazoo County

We believe farming should be good for the land, good for the community, and good for the soul. At Little Pistol Farms, we follow Michigan's GAAMPs (Generally Accepted Agricultural and Management Practices), partner with the Kalamazoo Conservation District, and participate in MSU Extension workshops to stay current on best practices. We're also working toward MAEAP certification (Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program) to demonstrate our commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible agriculture.

Our 29-acre farm uses organic-certified fertilizers and pesticides whenever possible, and we carefully manage our crops to support pollinators, soil health, and local biodiversity. Our goal is simple: to grow high-quality produce, support Michigan agriculture, and provide our family and community with something we can all be proud of.

A Few Helpful Rules for Our Farm

We created our farm and opened it to the public to be an enjoyable and affordable experience for all families.

  • 🧒 Children must be supervised at all times — our farm is large, the road at the front of our property has fast traffic, and little ones can wander quickly.

  • 🚜 Stay off farm equipment and out of marked work areas — for everyone’s safety.

  • 🌱 Respect the field and others: Don’t throw pumpkins or damage vines.

  • 💵 Please pay before loading pumpkins into your vehicle.

  • 🚫 No smoking, vaping, alcohol, or drones anywhere on the property.

  • 📸 Photography: Ask permission before photographing our staff or others not in your party. Handheld phones and cameras are welcome, but prior permission is required before bringing professional equipment or scheduling photo sessions.

🎃 What to Know Before You U-Pick

We can’t wait for you to relive your childhood memories — searching for the perfect pumpkin right in the field it grew in, not out of a cardboard box from the store.

Pumpkin u-pick is special, but it is a farm field. A little preparation will make your visit safe and fun:

  • 👟 Closed-toe shoes required in the farm field — this is a real dirt farm field and can be muddy or uneven.
  • 🌽 Field hazards: Corn stalk remnants, vines, and rough ground could cause foot injuries. We’ve cleared what we can, but the field is huge — please walk carefully.

  • 🐝 Expect bugs and bees — they live here and are part of nature.

  • 💪 Some pumpkins are heavy — we have a limited number of wagons, so bringing your own is encouraged.

  • 🧺 Field pumpkins are dirty — bring bags or tarps if you plan to place them on light-colored car seats.

  • 🐶 Pets: We love well-behaved dogs, but MDARD farm rules do not allow pets in the u-pick fields. Thank you for understanding.

  • ☀️ Weather aware: We may close for severe weather — check our Facebook or Instagram for updates before you come.

💛 What if U-pick doesn’t sound like fun to you? No worries — we’ll have plenty of pre-picked pumpkins displayed around our yard, so you can pick your favorites without heading into the farm field.
